One Long Road is a small, independent literary press in Washington, DC launched in 2025 to capture stories about teaching and learning, the human journey, and how we stumble and shine along the way. So where did our name originate?

In the summer of 1999, Eric Goldstein met Bonnie Curtis in the midwest as their paths crossed while cycling across America. She set out on her ride to make a plan with God. He set out on his ride to heal. For two weeks they cycled together beside endless fields of tall, green Kansas grass until they were browned by the high Colorado desert.

Bonnie shared tales about people connecting with something bigger than themselves. The great unknown. Journeys about purpose, whether beyond or within us. Before the age of cell phones, they lost each other in the Rocky Mountains. On their last day together Bonnie told Eric that our lives, with all their bumps and blessings, is one long road. Our name is in honor of her wisdom.

Thank you for supporting our independent press, its first title, TAUGHT,  and for your inspiration.
